Wedza Youths Certified After Completing Basic ICT Training
Scores of youths in Wedza have been certified following the successful completion of a Basic Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) training programme conducted by the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services at St Anne's Primary School, Goto.
The certification ceremony presided over by the Youth Quota Member of Parliament for Wedza, Hon Tawanda Mudowo, marked a significant milestone in efforts to equip young people with essential digital skills for the modern economy. Present at the event was Councillor for Ward 14, Clr P Makoni as well as officials from the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training .
Speaking at the event, the Youth Quota MP commended the Ministry of ICT for decentralising digital skills training and ensuring that rural youths are not left behind in the country’s digital transformation agenda. The MP urged the graduates to utilise the knowledge acquired to create employment opportunities, enhance innovation, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Officials from the Ministry of ICT highlighted that the training covered fundamental computer skills, internet usage, digital communication, and basic cybersecurity awareness. The programme is part of the Ministry’s broader initiative to bridge the digital divide and empower communities through technology-driven solutions.
Graduates expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the training has enhanced their confidence and improved their prospects in education, entrepreneurship and employment. The initiative aligns with the Government’s thrust to promote digital literacy and ensure inclusive access to ICTs across the country, particularly among the youth who are key drivers of Zimbabwe’s socio-economic transformation
